Exercise reduces the risk of congestive heart failure in older women

New results from the Objective Physical Activity and Cardiovascular Health (OPACH) in Older Women study (that’s a mouthful) were recently published in the JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) Cardiology.

The results (gained from observing 5,951 women for 2 years) found that increased light/moderate/vigorous physical activity or an increased number of steps per day correlated with a reduced overall risk of congestive heart failure in women aged 63-99.

An increased step count or amount of exercise reduces the risk of congestive heart failure in older women.

Bottom line: Movement good, sitting bad.
