Tired All the Time? Here’s a Natural Cure for Fatigue.
Saturday, March 1st, 2008Are you tired all the time? Looking for a natural cure for fatigue? Then you’ll be interested in a study published in the February, 2008 issue of the journal Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics.
Researchers at the University of Georgia have found that light exercise such as a leisurely stroll can increase your energy levels by 20 percent - about the same as what you would get from a cup of coffee.
The study’s test subjects were 36 people who were constantly fatigued and did not exercise regularly. They were divided into three groups - one that did 20 minutes of moderately intense exercise three times a week, a second that did 20 minutes of light workouts three times a week and the third that did not exercise.
The study lasted six weeks and while both exercise groups had a 20 percent increase in energy levels over the sedentary group, the low-intensity exercisers felt less fatigued than the moderate-intensity exercisers.
So what’s the lesson? If you are feeling fatigued, it may be from a lack of exercise. But if you are going to start exercising, do it slowly - walk before you run. You’ll feel more energy and less fatigue.
