Is the Nintendo Wii Fit a Weight Loss Product? Will it Help You to Lose Weight?
Wednesday, February 20th, 2008Nintendo, the makers of the Wii game system will start selling an exercise product called the Wii Fit in May. But is it a weight loss product? Will it help you to lose weight?
It sure seems like a really fun way to get exercise. Basically the game consists of a board which you stand on and measures your weight and movements. This is plugged into Wii console which plugs into your television. The game gives you a series of exercises and tracks your progress, letting you see how you are doing on TV.
I absolutely love the concept of this game for several reasons.
1) It looks like a lot of fun. I will be running out to get one as soon as they are available.
2) It gives you measurable results which are more important than people realize. It’s one thing to say, “I exercise on a regular basis”. It’s another to have the numbers recorded so you can track your progress and even see graphed results.
The downside to this game is that it is expensive. So far, the estimates are that it will cost about $70 - and that’s on top of the cost for the Wii (which is currently in hot demand and selling for $389 and up on Amazon as of today).
But will it help you to lose weight? Well, as Eric Clapton sings, “It’s in the way that you use it”. Whether you’re using a diet pill, diet book, program, pedometer, gym or the Wii Fit - if you don’t eat right AND exercise, chances are that you are going to be disappointed.
The Wii Fit may just be a fun way to fit more exercise into your life. If you want to see my humorous take on the Wii Fit, click here to see my YouTube video. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0nVTSFM_Tk).
