What the “10 Diets That Work” Have in Common
Friday, March 17th, 2006Recently Forbes magazine came out with an article called “10 Diets That Work”. While I hardly think that their list is complete or unbiased, all of the diets listed (as well as others that work but weren’t listed) have several common themes.
Eat fewer simple carbs. I can’t think of a single healthy diet which tells you to eat more Twinkies or other products with bleached white flour, added sugar or high fructose corn syrup in them.
Eat fewer calories. In one form or another, every diet helps you to eat less. People even end up consuming fewer calories on the Atkins diet which allows you to eat all the meat and other low carb products that you want.
Eat more fiber. Fiber helps you to feel full, lowers choleserol and prevents constipation. Most of us don’t get enough and all the diets from Atkins to Weight Watchers recommend consuming more of this vital ingredient.
